What is cheaper right now: meat or vegetables?!

Question: What is cheaper right now: meat or vegetables?
I'm really confused... I've thought that vegetables were more expensive than meat. But then I read something from eatingwell.com that said that vegetables are cheaper than meat. So... which is it? Were vegetables more expensive? Did it change? Or is it still more expensive than meat?

>Right now is winter and so of course they have to truck it to your store, right, maybe from Florida, California or Mexico...and its in short supply, so like any commodity, the price goes up. Don't you go to stores and do shopping comparison on costs? All you have to do is go to a store and compare the price of meat per lb to vegetables per lb. In my area, lettuce right now is about 80 cents more expensive then during the summer months because it is off season. Later, the price should drop due to more availability of the produce.

That's a hard question to answer - it depends on what type you are talking about. Beans? Cheap. Asparagus? Expensive. Potatoes? Cheap. Morel mushrooms? Expensive. Rib eye? Expensive. Pork butt? Cheap. Better for you? Vegetables. I try to use meat more as a flavoring than the main dish and use lots of veggies. Think of a stir fry - lots of veggies and rice, with a little meat.

Vegetables have always been cheaper than meats.

Vegetables.

about the same!
