I got Instant mashed Potatoes and the bag had a slit in it?!
I looked back at the homestyle bags and now can see it almost looks like a knife blade or thin razor sliced it. I might just be freaking out but now I don't want to eat any of the potatoes from Betty Crocker. What should I do?
Do you think the grocery store will let me exchange the two opened boxes for sidekicks mashed potatoes instead? This is a serious question. I'm glad I didn't eat the potatoes with slits in the bags.

>Yes, it is IMPORTANT that you return that product back to the store TO THE MANAGER, not just some clerk or checkout counter person. Make sure that you write a letter including the code date off the package and explain what you found just as you did here. This could we be a case of a person tampering with the food and the authorities and that store need to know about it. I am sure General Mills wants to know about this incident too. So if I were you, take the product back but keep track of the information, where you bought it, when you bought it, the CODE DATE, the name of the product and the UPC code.
Any store that wants to stay in business has a no questions asked return policy on defective product. This certainly applies to large chain stores like Fred Meyer, Safeway, Kroger, etc...
They should take it back and offer you another replacement just like it for free or if you don't want it at all, you could demand your money back. If the store refuses to give you money in kind for the return product, check with your state law about return policy as some states restrict compensation while others require or allow it.
I can tell you exactly what happened. These things come to the store in a large cardboard box. Store workers open the boxes with a razor knife and sometimes the blade cuts the boxes inside too. Just take them back to the store and check next time you buy anything in a box. cereal, mac n cheese etc... It can happen to any brand of food from any store.
