I've never eaten it straight from the can, but it makes great salmon cakes. I'm not crazy about cold fish taste anyway.

Canned salmon can be eaten straight from the can and is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids which is great for the heart, the arteries, and is great for weight loss. Isabel De Los Rios swears by such good fats. Add to a yummy salad filled with greens and other vegetables and you're good to go!

It is cooked in the can, as far as I know. I guess you could make "salmon salad", like tuna salad, after you pick out the skin and bones. But we always cook ours, as in salmon patties.

Repeat after me: "ALL CANNED FOODS ARE FULLY COOKED."

Now repeat that ten times. There is no way food can remain raw during the canning process. It has always been that way, so you better get used to it.

It is cooked. They don't put anything in cans that you need to cook yourself. :)
