fried batter, or beaten up?
If fried....260 for the MArs, another 200 for the batter, I'd say.
It says 191kcal on the wrapper I have here.
I wouldn't bother with the battered Mars if I were you...unless the batter is exceptionally tasty.
It has been a long time since I ate a Mars Bar, untill just a few minutes ago, and I am so disappointed with the taste. They have ruined it.
Mars is not the only chocolate that has gone down-hill.
I had gone off eating chocolate altogether because Cadbury's ruined their lovely chocolate a long time ago . I think it was something to do with Fair Trade...that's a laugh...because I am sure there is a way to trade fairly without ruining something that was so perfect for many, many, years. And it was not just my imagination because I was talking to some friends who live in New Zealand and they said Cadburys chocolate is awful there too. They said it was something to do with palm oil. I don't know the reason for all the tampering with chocolate but I believe it comes down to money.
I thought I would have a little chocolate treat today because I needed something to cheer myself up after weeks of worry. Since I no longer eat Cadburys I thought a Mars bar would be the very thing. When I went to buy it I found a Mars DUO on the shelf...double the delight! so I bought it. Mind you, I thought it felt a little smaller than I remembered - Don't you just hate it when they make the chocolate bars, and sweets, smaller and harder and cheap - but I didn't think they would have tampered with the taste. Wrong.
Inside I found two bars, smaller and tougher than the yummy old Mars bar, and it didn't even smell nice. I checked the wrapper to see if 'Fair Trade' might be the reason but it didn't appear anywhere on the wrapper. Oh no, it was not fair trade, not at all. It was the 'Nanny' at Mars minding our health...as if we didn't have a brain to look after our own health. They proudly state that they have reduced the fat content. It says "Same Delicious Taste----45% Less Saturated Fat". Wrong again. It tasted horrible. I can still get the after taste and I have no intention of eating the second bar.
Why can't they leave things alone and allow people to choose what to eat. I can tell you I won't be buying Mars bars ever again. They can keep the little cheap excuse for Mars...remember how it used to be...almost square at the ends, a good thick bar of delicious soft toffee and smooth nougat, wrapped in thick folds of dreamy, yummy, chocolaty smelling, gorgeousness...Now it is thinner and tougher, with the same smell that I got from a bar, from a packet of 7, which I once bought in Aldi for very little. I would find it hard to tell the difference between the Mars Bar I have just eaten and the cheap bar, and I got 7 of those in a packet. Mars has changed..not my idea of a treat any more.
If they cannot afford to sell the original chocolate bars at the present prices, and are afraid people will refuse to pay more, they should just make the bar smaller and charge the same price. People will pay for quality and will understand there is a price to pay for a delicious product that should not be changed, but they will not pay the original price for a product that is so different from the original bar that it is unrecognisable. And they will not take kindly to being persuaded to buy a bar that has nothing in common with the original other than the name. People aren't stupid.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your battered Mars Bar, maybe the taste will be improved in the cooking and you will not notice the difference. I used to melt a Mars over hot water and pour it over vanilla icecream. One bar was enough for two generous servings...ahh the good old days.
