Oyster by themselves are not aphrodisiac. The same can be said for many other food which are said to be aphrodisiac.

But what may play it's part is what the oyster means... Very few people eat oyster often... So it's meant to be a "special occasion" and as such, it may play some role.

The most powerful aphrodisiac is the general mood around the meal... A good meal in a great restaurant will always be better than a meal at the local (noisy) fastfood.
