Black stuff in food? What is it and is it safe?!

Question: Black stuff in food? What is it and is it safe?
Hi, I ate some Pad Thai today from some Thai express restaurant and I can't help to notice that there seems to be some black stuff from the noodles, as if it were burnt but the noodles arent burnt. I'm assuming that the black stuff came from their pan or wok that they were using. I don't think those black stuff are safe to consume and I think that the restaurant might need to change their wok/frying pan or whatever.

I'm not sure if my above speculations are right, but can someone provide me with more information on this? I really like their Pad Thai but I don't know if I want to get it again in the future.

Without knowing what this black stuff looks like... I can only guess. Could it be that they are using black sesame seeds? In my MANY years of cooking and eating, I've never experienced pan residue in my food. The black or brown on the bottom of the pan is called the fond and always dissolves into the sauce making it more flavorful. My guess is black sesame seeds.

You can eat that. It's ok, it won't harm you. It's the ethier the sause, or the type of noodles.

It may be a part of a mushroom.
Ask the owners of the restaurant .
