How long would I have to shake this small carton of milk before it turns into butter?!

A very long time.
Hopefully you have fresh cow milk from the cow directly and not the grocery store. Anyway, assuming you know how to make the butter it takes a long time shaking it, like 30+ minutes. Take it to a place that has a paint shaker. Much easier on the arm and quicker.

If you want to make butter you need cream, and apparently the process takes 10-20 mins of shaking (and is very hard work!)
