How big's your grandma's purse? I would get bread and sandwich fillings for a start. Fruit. Crisps. Maybe some veg that can be eaten raw and don't need refrigeration. I just don't like eating all junk food when I'm traveling because then I feel kinda rotten. You could also get some microwaveable meals that don't need refrigeration.
Disposable utensils, paper plates and bowls, paper towels
They make microwavable meals that don't require refrigeration. My store stocks these on the aisle with the hamburger helper kind of stuff. Healthy Choice, Marie Calendars and Chi-Chi's are a couple of brands I have tried with success.
Soup, they make it in microwavable containers and with pop top lids so you don't need a can opener.
You can buy pop up tuna, small thing of mayo and some crackers or make a sandwich.
Buy some deli meat and cheese and make sandwiches.
Buy microwavable oatmeal or cereal and a bottle of milk for breakfast. Fruit is also good for breakfast, bananas and peaches and melons in the rind don't need refrigeration.
Order at a restaurant and bring home leftovers.
Granola or energy bars, trail mix.
