Question: What are some good sick foods to eat when you are sick?
I am sick with a bad cold, and just thinking of certain foods make me want to throw up(even some foods suggested for when you're sick). What do i do? Are there certain foods that will help me feel better once I eat them?

Some folks swear by chicken noodle soup. The broth is good for a body that needs fluids, while the noodles are nice and soft, go down well when you don't feel up to chewing. However, a queasy tummy might not be up to that much. In that case, toast and tea, or toast/dry crackers and flat ginger ale (not Pepsi or Crush) will soothe a nauseous tummy. Apparently, the ginger in ginger ale is a homoeopathic treatment for nausea that actually works. Stay away from rich foods like mac 'n cheese. I know... it's a top comfort food, but it's not so comforting when you're tummy is upset. Generally, dairy type foods are a no-go when dealing with an upset stomach as the milk fat in cheese and yogurt tend to further upset. If you don't want to eat, that's fine. But do make sure you get enough fluids. You don't want to make your sick self worse by becoming dehydrated. Eat and drink whatever interests you. Toast and honey is good because you can nibble it. It's something your upset tum can work on while the honey keeps your electrolytes up. My personal favourite is honey-lemon tea. I boil some water, drop a tablespoon or so of honey into it and also a tablespoon or so of lemon juice. I sip it until I feel better. It's also soothing for a sore throat. Sucking on orange wedges can be comforting for a cold, though their acidity doesn't always work well with an upset stomach. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

it sounds disgusting but it really helps if you start to make jello but before it gets cold and gets thick drink it it coats your throat and your stomach it helps with nausea and diarrhea like i said it sounds crazy but my dad always had me do it when i was sick all growing up you have to drink it quite fast or it starts to thicken and lime or lemon seems to taste better like this than the other flavors hope it helps

We can't make a guarantee like that, be serious.

Chicken soup and toast is supposedly one of the best to rebuild energy.
Hot Lemon and Ginger is my first and top cure tonic I reach for straight away. We have a syrup ready made, just add boiling water.

The thing to make you feel the best will be the medical treatment you are having for your cold.

Just drink lots of fluids. Tea and water works, but no juices such as orange juice or apple juice. It may be too harsh on your stomach. Maybe snacking on some fruits (no acidic fruits) such as apples, melon, bananas, etc. And grain foods like bread, rice crispies, noodles, etc.

i buy the chicken noodle soup in a packet that you just add water to and once i add the water i take out the noodles (cause they float)......and i drink the liquid.

hope that works.........if you can eat solids try some toast........just make it and you will eat it!
feel better soon!

My Aunt is a nurse and she told me about the BRAT diet for when you're sick. It stands for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, & Toast. Have some ginger ale or tea if you're thirsty. Hope you feel better soon!

I usually feel better after a bowl of ginger soup with different veg in it. It's so clean and healthy and cleans you out- the ginger really perks you up/

Apples and bananas are good for colds. Any type of fruit really. Chicken noodle soup works well, but I'm assuming that's a food that makes you feel like throwing up.

When im sick I usually eat popsicles because they honestly make me feel better and less like throwing up

When I am feeling sick, I like soup the best. Tomato soup. Chicken noodle. they make me feel better.

Soup is a given. Also plain crackers and ginger ale.

Plain toast too.

Chicken soup made from scratch. I take it a step further and make chicken and dumplings.

ramen noodles always makes me feel better

Soups, salads

pickled herring helps me
