Why did the price of bananas go up?!

Question: Why did the price of bananas go up?
Just went to the store; bananas are now $.59 a pound. Not even last month they were $.49 cents. What on Earth happened?!?!?!

Answers:

Possibly inflation. The value of money goes down so the price goes up. To be honest, I never could understand the currency system. :/

Im not sure why it is where you are, but in Australia, they have gone from $2 a kilo to $12 a kilo which is due to the floods in Queensland and all the crops being wiped out.

>Commodity item. Supply and demand. Simple economics of capitalism.

oil, everything revolves around that price,.,,including your bananas
