to distract you from sitting at your computer on facebook and Yahoo! Answers all day!
The point is I suppose is the same as growing the biggest Pumpkins or the longest Carrot.
I personally like to cook with them, instead of using half a dozen regular chillies in a recipe I can use one or two super hots.
I throw a few into a jar and make extra spicy pickled onions, or shred one up finely to zing up a chutney.
You have to remember that unlike an extract based sauce the super hot chilli has a flavour that can enhance your food, not just make it hot.
They make a wicked stir fry!
>I grow chili peppers in my garden every year. They are great for making hot bbq sauces which are tangy on meats...also, I make Mongolian style beef, Gen Tsao chicken and other hot foods because I love the spiciness. I also grown Hungarian wax peppers which can be VERY hot! I love to eat them raw on sandwiches.
Bragging rights when you can eat a dozen.
Messes up your guts though especially if you get the runs. Ring of fire syndrome.

if you can't enjoy the food because it's so hot and spicy, then there is no point to it. I like heat, but I also want flavor.
When you cant use them. No point at all.
