Is eating hot sauce worse/better for your health than just hot peppers?!

Question: Is eating hot sauce worse/better for your health than just hot peppers?
I was just curious. From what i know, spicy foods are good for your body, i think your heart and digestive system, right? I would just like to know if im better off eating hot peppers with things or just tossing in some Hot sauce.

Hi James, For the amount that you would normally use I'm not sure that it would make much difference either way. The only difference that I could see would be the preservatives in bottled sauce V fresh peppers. however with bottled sauce you might not have so much wastage. You could always however experiment by making your own sauce from fresh ,if you have any excess peppers this way you can control the heat and flavourings added. A pepper salsa is easy to make from fresh by just de seeding and removing the membrane from the pepper /chilli adding diced onion and a little sugar and vinegar and any fresh herbs you have to hand. It is the white membrane that the heat comes from and not the seeds as most people think - the membrane or pith heats the seeds,so if you remove this then the sauce or salsa will be milder - depending on the chilli of course. Your correct when saying chillies in moderation are good for the heart and digestive system. I hope this helps, all the best. Rab

I would stick to the peppers because its natural vs hot sauce what I would do is dry some hot peppers and crunch it over your food and put the rest in a bag till the next time you eat

i go for eating hot peppers with things rather than Hot Sauce (a processed food with preservatives). Choose fresh foods as much as possible rather than processed ones.

Doth will be bad for your system, but only in excess, choose which you prefer, it will make little difference.

Raw peppers are better for you because they don't have the added salt, sugar, or vinegar.
