That would be insulting.
Have a chat to them and see who installed the alarms. Often they are wrongly positioned and the best people to check are the Fire Dept.
Ours will install them for free as long as you buy them.

You don't have to burn food in order to set off a smoke detector, cooking a steak in a two bedroom small apartment when the detector is 13 meters away from the stove (like my apartment ( unit) ) is enough to send it off screaming.....i usually shut the doors and open the window when cooking a steak on a grill pan.

they may be smoking inside

their detector may have been placed in the wrong area ( by themselves)

if they are cooking inside and the detector is not directly in the kitchen ( it shouldn't be there) they can open a window or turn on a range hood to help circulate the air

the detector may be too sensitive...

have a chat to them and share the issue saying " i feel sorry for you"

Then look in a business directory under "smoke alarms" and chose a business who installs these alarms and see if it is in the right spot in the house / apartment and ask for tips......someone has to make the call you or them good luck.... :)

I'm sure they are there. If there's a fire, they will see it. It could be an over sensitive smoke detector, or just poor placement of a smoke detector, causing it to go off when I might not if in the right place. Sometimes the set-up and/or size of a kitchen lends to this problem.

Talk to them about it.... tell them that your worried that you won't take the next alarm seriously, and what if it was a real fire alarm.

or.... If you don't like being up-front, you could just buy your neighbor a kitchen timer, put a bow on it, and write a little note saying something like "Use this....stop making the fire alarm go off, please!" Leave it at their door....knock on the door.... and run away!

it might be offending to them, but you could talk to them about it next time you see them, depending on what kind of person they are
