They are both a pulse. High in carbs and good for veggies :-) hope that helps

All foods made from meat, poultry, fish, dry beans or peas, eggs, nuts, and seeds are considered part of the protein foods group. Dry beans and peas are part of this group as well as the vegetable group

USDA

Chickpeas and Lentils go under the Legumes category. Unlike most plant foods, they actually contain protein and thus, are suitable for vegetarians and vegans alike. Hope this helps :)

I learn Nutrition as a subject.

Do they not go under the pulses category well thats what I was taught in Intermediate 2 hospitality they also come under the protein group and legumes but legumes are just another name for pulses hope this helps

In the Food Pyramid lentils and chick peas are included in the Bread, Cereal, Rice and Pasta category, the base or largest category on the Pyramid

legumes.

Technically they are veg.
It is wrong to put them in the bread and grains category because they're definitley not grains and have a vegetable breakdown.

I thought they were alternative proteins...
