Is it safe to eat 4 year old cookie dough?!

Question: Is it safe to eat 4 year old cookie dough?
The expiration was like march 07. I mean I'm a little skeptical but I want those cookies. It's just kinda been sitting at the bottom of the deep freezer for that entire time. People eat cheese that old and that's major dairy product without getting sick. But I don't know would you try baking it?

Answers:

definitely bake it, yes. GO for it. Deep freeze. go for it.

There's a big difference between eating old cheese and eating cookie dough (old or not). Cookie dough has uncooked egg in it which can contain harmful bacteria. I would not advise anyone to eat raw cookie dough unless it has been made specifically for eating raw (meaning, it is made without raw egg or it is made safe via some other process).

Having said this, I've seen ppl do it all the time and I've never known anyone to get sick. The probability of getting sick from it must be super low. The chance could be higher with very young or very old people. I am unsure.

My intuition tells me that letting your 4-year-old eat it will almost surely be fine, but it is an unnecessary risk. Why not just bake the cookies and give them to him/her?

On another note, some cheeses are intentionally aged. If aged properly, they can be very old and taste very good and not be harmful. Aging cookie dough would not work the same way :)

I wouldn't risk it. You probably wouldn't get sick if you bake it since nearly all bacteria would die at that temperature.

NO!!!!!! Do not eat it, you will get sick!

Is it safe to walk in front of a train?

I wouldn't risk it. It would better suit you to make a new batch.

Eat it.. great idea...doo it
