The answer is both. Most soup contains mostly liquid, with some solid pieces of food in it. For example: Chicken noodle soup. Most of chicken noodle soup is water and flavoring in the water. This is the beverage part of it. The noodles and chicken in the water are the food.
Good Luck :)

It's both if your on a liquid diet and it is clear broth it's a beverage but when you start adding vegetables and cream and other stuff to it it becomes a food. So it is always a food but when just a clear broth it can count as a beverage.

Soup is a food. Most beverages are also food. Wrap your brain around that! I think that the only beverage that isn't a food is water. If it has nutrients it is food aka carbs protein vitamins etc.

I would say it's a food that you can drink as a beverage.

Food! Do you put soup in a cup and drink it??

Your friend is wrong.....

it is a food, it doesnt really quench your thirst....
