Hand sanitizer on silverware?!

Question: Hand sanitizer on silverware?
Does anyone use hand sanitizer to clean silverware? When I get lazy I rub hand sanitizer on my metal fork/spoon/knife/chopsticks instead of using soap and water. It evaporates and "kills 99.9% of bacteria", but is this a plausible solution?

No it's not acceptable you should be using the correct type of silver polish between use for storage, and a rinse in hot soapy water and dried with a tea towel and properly handled.

Plausible, no. Hand sanitiser is not a cleaner, it's to kill potentially dangerous bacteria on your hands when you have no soap. It's NO substitute for soap and water when they are available. Plus it's a lot more pricey

It will eventually cause the finish to tarnished. I have to get my silver abd white gold jewelry redipped every few months because I use so much hand sanatizer

hmmm. well it doesnt necesarily get the food off. sounds like a good idea to me though. as long as you dry it with a paper towel to remove any food debris. :)

Used for hand sanitizer or tableware detergent new viscosity conditioners

vote me as best answer or i'll take ur hand sanitizer away....forever
