what should i do if my dog ate a red hot chili pepper?!

Question: What should i do if my dog ate a red hot chili pepper?
Answers:

give ur dog mix with water & low fat milk and let him drink little
and just watch ur dog all day for any other symptom such as minor tummy ach?

Let him eat some type of yogurt OR other dairy product. Dairy eases the pain. I don't think it should do anything serious to the dog as it is a vegetable. I would just give him some milk to drink.

I am a chile-head - card-carrying (really!) and when I eat something overly spicy I immediately drink some milk OR I serve it with some plain yogurt OR sour cream. Seems to help a lot. Also tomatoes seem to ease the pain on the tastebuds too. Do Not Give the dog Water. Water is the worst thing possible. It just spreads the heat through the mouth and throat. It does not mix with the capsaicin in the chiles (the stuff that makes them hot).

Call your vet and see what they recommend--even if they are not open now there is usually a vet on call. You can also call an emergency vet in your area and see what they think. Your dog may have some diarrhea tonight and tomorrow. I would probably expect that if I were you. You might want to have your dog eat some bland foods like white rice and ground meat for the next meal or two. Don't give your dog Tums or any other human stomach medicine. I've heard of bad reactions and also ok ones, but it is not worth the risk.

Stand in line to see the show tonight? lol, just kidding.
But If he is in discomfort, maybe try feeding him some cold water or milk to sooth the burning. I suggested milk because i remember when my sister got pepper in her eyes, they poured milk into her eyes to sooth the burning. He should be okay, just uncomfortable. If he is reacting funny (rapidly breathing, dehydrating, fainting etc) probably seek a vet's advice.
I hope that helps.

The chemical that makes a pepper hot is capsium (If I am not mistaken) and the best thing to nuetralize it is milk. See if your dog will drink milk. Bear in mind this only relieves the burning sensation,

put out a dish of water, leave the door open, and watch what happens.

this happened to my mom's dog, and he ended up being fine... until he lifted his leg to pee...

Brother's Girlfriend: Use milk. :D
Mom: Close his or her mouth, depends on his/her reaction. lol
or it is mainly best to use salt on his/her tongue.

Your dog is going to be farting up a storm.
