do you need the card to shop at costco?!

Yes. They check when you come in.
Costco's okay, we only went like 3 times a year though. You can buy lots of bulk sweets, candy, chocolate, CAKES and have access to their amazing pizzas. Other than that the clothes aren't amazing, and the toys etc can be brought anywhere else, and probably cheaper.
We found it wasn't worth the membership. So we cancelled it.
Costco is GREAT for high quality, low prices on food, cheese, meat, bread, liquor, coffee, produce, toiletries...pretty much anything! I have the executive $100 membership; you get a rebate on purchases at the end of your renewal period, and it normally pays for the renewal, for us. They have jeans for $12 or 14, all kinds of sporting goods and tools and kitchen goods; computers, phones, DVD's, books, music. I shop about 90% of everything we use at Costco. Also, they have the lowest pharmacy prices around, and you don't have to have the card to use the pharmacy; it's federally regulated, so they can't require membership.
