Human milk ice-cream ?!

Question: Human milk ice-cream ?
What is your opinion about this new business in London that sells human milk ice-cream?

Is it not against women, mothers dignity? What about health issues (Aids transmision...)?

It would be nice if you give your opinion in my blog (see profile) too.

Answers:

I think human milk is JUST for new born babies and if moms sell it, so what should baby drink? It is not a good idea to use it as a commercial product!

I agree with Anna, even though I am not interested in trying it myself.

@Golnaz The babies won't suffer as milk is produced on demand, the more demand the more produced. So there will never be a shortage of milk for the baby. A mother will only stop lactating when there isn't a need for it, like when the baby is weaned. This is how mothers of 9 year olds still breast feed their children, because the mother's body believes it still needs to be made, so still makes it.

Why would it be against women? The women aren't forced to give the milk, they do it freely and get paid for it.

And the donors are all going through the same medical checks as those who give blood (if you read the news article it says this quite clearly) and this means all the transmittable diseases such as AIDS/HIV are checked for.

How is human lactation any grosser than that of animals? After all, human breast milk is made for human consumption (albeit by babies, not adults) and animal milk is not. If you're seriously grossed out by it, you need to rethink your food choices.

After all, cows/sheep/goats aren't asked if they want to give their milk for us to drink. We take it from them. At least human contributors to this do it with their own consent and are paid and treated well. It's not like the mums are herded into milking parlours twice a day and hooked up to machines!!

ETA: I'm not a vegan, just a thinking human being.

I wouldn't try it myself but if others want it and the women who supply it do so willingly and are paid, and screened for infections, I would not advocate banning it either. Also would the milk be pasteurised before making it into ice-cream?

I agree with Anna. I don't see how people are saying human milk is disgusting, especially if they're already drinking milk from species. It's far more natural to drink human milk than drink the usual cow milk.

human milk ice-cream would be delish :)

That sounds pretty disgusting. That's like donating my piss for snow cones.

It is just inane and disgusting.

Don't think much of this idea at all - but then I am lactose intolerant!!

Ok ew that grosses me out .

I wish I worked there.
