Question: Does anyone else think olives taste gross? and if not do you prefer black or green ones?
when they bring them in europe as a couvert i eat the bread but the olives taste gross to me. what about yourselves?

Answers:

yes!!! i think they taste nasty! i'm greek and everyone in my family loves them but me

I once disliked them too, many years ago. I had an Italian barber, my parents brought me to, that cut my hair when I was a kid. He ate green olives all day long, as he would carry a bottle around with him. *I'm not joking* Anyways, he asked me if I liked olives and I said NO! He promised me if I tried and ate just 7 of these little puke balls, that I would love them for the rest of my life. Well you know what? I do love em! Black, green, pitted, unpitted, ripe, with pimentos, etc, etc...I could go on. I love green olives on pizza. Calamata olives on Greek salads. I honestly can't understand why anyone would not like them. Try it, just eat 7 in a row like I did....trust me!

I used to hate olives. I still do hate them but can just about stand them on pizza.

However, I love stuffed olives, especially from the local Mexican restaurant. I think the filling distracts from the olive-y flavour. I prefer the black ones.

I like olives. I do like the green olives best but I like black and Greek olives as well. I think its an acquired taste. I learned at an early age that if you wanted to stick the black olives on your fingers, you had to eat them, too.

I personally HATE olives. They have that oily salty taste.
But, before I liked the black ones...
the green ones were too strong for me.

I put them in the same Bloody Awful draw,as avocados, aubergines, courgettes, parsnips & oysters!

I love them, especially green ones whether they are just pitted or stuffed. I often eat them whilst watching tv in the evening.

i like olives. We can make lots of bakes and salad with them. The black ones taste so great.

Acquired taste I think - I prefer green

never tryed any. cant stand the smell of them
