Have you ever tried a new recipe that tasted disgusting?!

Question: Have you ever tried a new recipe that tasted disgusting?
Well have you ever attempted a new recipe, expected it to be nice, and it tasted awful?

I just made burritos for the first time and they tasted horrible, like soil or something. And now I'm depressed about it. Like I don't even want to cook again. Haha. So have you ever made something bad?

Answers:

if you cook and try new things, this will happen to everyone. professionals do it all the time, especially if they are modifying or making something new, it's how you learn what you like and what you don't as well as how to change recipes to make them your own. everyone's tastes vary so a recipe that works for someone else may be gross to you and vice versa, plus, there are some recipes out there that are just plain bad. don't get discouraged, just remember that recipe when you look for a new one, if you find another that looks the same, don't use it and eventually you'll come across one you like.

Oh, yeah, and my dear husband tried to choke it down anyway! I let him cook now. My darling aunt once made peanut butter meatloaf, I so wish i had a video camera way back then it was awesomely bad, but she was ahead of her time. She also made saurkraut pizza but it tasted like artichokes, it was good.

That happens to anyone who cooks long enough. Don't be discouraged. Have you had burritos before? Maybe you did something wrong in the recipe. Look it over again. Could your tortillas have been a little moldy? That's the only thing I can think of to make them taste that way. Or maybe you just don't like burritos!

Oh yes, many times. Especially when I first had to learn. I remember trying to make pastitsio and followed the directions exactly. It turned out horrible, like gruel, terrible taste, it was like vomit. I had to scrap the whole dish. And I've never tried it since, I've moved on. :)

I tried mixing some Henry Westons with ice cream once, that didn't go to well. As for cooking, I don't cook! I'm in a part of town that literally has everything you could want to eat ready for delivery, F*ck it.

I have made mistakes in recipes that have made them dreadful.
I analyze what I did wrong and try again.
Some recipes will have typos for some quantities and things like that.

Most certinaly. But this recipe source never let's me down. I can make most of the dishes you get at Applebee's, Chili's, Red Lobster, KFC or the Olive Garden.

Yes,
I was camping and made breakfast in the dutch oven. The Oatmeal Cake was absolutely horrible! We threw it out into the woods. The little woodland threw it back at us.
