My eyesight changes with coffee?!

Question: My eyesight changes with coffee?
I love Coffee and I notice when I have a particularly strong cup of coffee (even better) my eyesight seems to dim a bit as if I have light sunglasses on.

I'm assuming this has some connection to the stronger caffeine content? I've tried drinking decaf but it doesn't taste as good to me.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does it sound dangerous?

Thanks

Answers:

Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor--that is, it narrows blood vessels so not as much blood gets through. This is why some people get a headache from it, but also why it can reduce the pain of a migraine (weird, I know.) If the capillaries in or around your eyes constrict, that might very well be why your vision dims temporarily--your eyes literally aren't working as well because they're not getting as much blood flow.

Dangerous? Probably not. But you might want to monitor the effect, or talk to your doctor if it gets worse.
