i have products that have written on them that they contain "sugars".. should i eat them?!

Question: I have products that have written on them that they contain "sugars".. should i eat them?
i noticed that i have different kind of meats that i bought from the supermarket, behind which it is written that they contain "sugars".

i am trying to reduce weight, i dont know if the concentration of "sugars" inhibits me from losing weight.

same is true for ketchup (henz brand).-- it is also written that it has sugar.

should i not eat them.. i bought them cause i thought they were health :L

Answers:

It is best to avoid too much added sugar (sucrose) in manufactured and processed food. However don't worry too much about natural sugars found in fruits, some vegetables and milk. You could try to use tomato purée instead of ketchup which contains no added sugar and also minimal or no added salt. If you eat tinned vegetables look for those with no added sugar and salt, and buy tinned fruit in natural fruit juice instead of sugar based syrup. Best to eat freshly cooked rather than processed meat, it contains no sugars, but make sure you chose lean parts as it is as important to avoid excess fats as it is excess sugar. For this reason, minimise or avoid fried food.

some sugar is essential for life, but obviously eating more than you burn off while make you fat. Be careful with 'diet' products; low-fat items often have lots of sugar added, and it is also added to unlikely things such as baked beans. Check labels.

best way round this is to minimise the processed food you eat; cook, don't eat ready meals, and don't eat low-fat or diet foods. Eat real food and exercise!
