Answers:
A green coloured pasts made from a root.
It is not really spicey, but very powerfully flavoured with vapors that clear your sinuses and not make your mouth burn.
It's made of a type of horseradish- a root like ginger with powerful aromatic vapors.
It is not bitter, or spicey, it is a pungent, VERY refreshing tasting paste which adds a lovely balance to rice, sushi and other earthy flavoured foods.
Try a TINY amount on sushi or rice, to see- I don't like spicey foods like Mexican food, but I do like Wasabi, in small amounts.
It's not oil=based, so the heat doesn't go into your mouth.
traditional wasabi is a asian condiment, similar in taste, but more mild than horseradish
most of whats sold as wasabi in the US is actually just horseradish that's colored green.
its a spicy-hot, very sinus-driven taste.
its made from a root from Japan... or its made from horseradish.
yes, i have tried it, and I like it... i have eaten it by itself, it isn't pleasant. its good mixed with a little soy sauce to dip sushi in.
