Will meat/fish spoil when biking (30min-1hour) the way home?!

Question: Will meat/fish spoil when biking (30min-1hour) the way home?
Without a cooler. I'm planning on biking to the grocery but I'm worried about buying meat/fish if I don't have a cooler. For one, carrying a cooler on a bike with ice sounds cumbersome and what if I want to do other stuff besides grocery shop like eat first?

Answers:

No, it won't spoil on the way home. If the stuff gets to room temperature while in transit, it needs to be refrigerated as soon as possible after, and it might not last as long in the fridge as if it had been cold the whole time. That's a bit more of an issue with fish than with meat but we're talking about maybe a day's difference in how it will last once it's cold again. An easy way of keeping things cool is to wrap them in several layers of newspaper, or any paper such as brown grocery bags. Paper has very good insulating value. Wrap anything that needs to be cold all together in one package.

Where are you? What temperature is it?

When you buy the meat... buy a bag of frozen peas too. This will help keep it cool :)
It should be ok to bike 30- 1 hour away.. as long as it's not 30+ degrees!

buy you one of the store bags this insulated they are light and easy to carry that would help a lot
