Does vegetable and fruit waste go in the black or green bin?!

As I understand it, fruit & vegetable peel etc. goes in normal garbage. Garden waste goes in 'garden' recycle bin. It is put through mulcher & used as garden mulch. Vegetable waste breaks down & goes mouldy or slimy. Totally unsuitable for recycling but good land fill because it will break down & fertilise. We also have to be careful what type of garden refuse we recycle. Nothing with prickles or thorns to prick the unwary gardener or person loading mulcher. I try to keep the worst weeds like ones with tiny sticky balls out of recycling. I'd hate to give another gardner problems. We can't put creeping or climbing plants in either. They all go into regular rubbish.

This depends on where you live. In my area my "recycling" bin is Blue topped. In the next town they have Red tops.

If your area has given you special bins for "Food Waste" (then it would go in this one) -

But you can't put it into the normal recycling bins. These are for card, paper, tins, (and depending on your area glass).

In which case food would have to go in with the usual "rubbish".

Of couse if you have room in your garden, you could put in a food/gardening bin, and "Do your own" recycling.. After sometime you will find all this waste has rotted down, will be full of worms, and ready to go onto your garden.

the color of the bin doesnt matter coz different cities can have different color coding in their waste segregation, just look for the word BIOGRADABLE that is where you should put the waste that could be used as compost.

green bin, black bin for general rubbish,but be careful each area of uk can be different and you clobbered a fine if get it wrong

Whichever one is used for recycling. Where I live, I would put the above in the green bin.

green bin for garden waste only , grass , branches ,leaves.....................
