What does Sushi and Lobster taste like?!


Question: What does Sushi and Lobster taste like?
I havent had either and i would love to try them but im squeemish and i think that ill end up being sick so is it nice and what do they taste like

Sushi is the best way to start, this is cooked or preserved fish/meat/veg with a sticky rice base- served with wasabi (Japanese horseradish), pickled ginger and soy sauce. If you like the flavour of oriental soy/ginger mix with smoked salmon, cooked prawns, Omlette, smoked mackerel etc then you will be fine. Sushi tastes so unlike anything Western you have had before, can be an acquired taste, but well worth it- the hit of the spice, salt, sour and hot is addictive!
Sashimi is what most people think of when sushi is mentioned- raw fish...but get the sushi thing going and sashimi is the natural step forwards!
Lobster is universally raved about, but personally not that keen. Would rather have crab meat, lobster doesn't really taste of much, unless I just been unlucky!



I don't really like much sea food, but I do enjoy lobster and sushi. It depends on the type of sushi, if you're squeemish, I'd try california roll sushi and dip it in a lot of soy sauce.

for lobster try chewing on the leg of the lobster first to get a taste for it, then have the very red part of the claw and dip it in butter. Then if you like that, you'll like the tail.

Like any other food, it is impossible to describe the taste in words...Even if we do and can, only those who have eaten it can understand what I mean. It is just like wine tasting report doesn't mean anything to those who haven't had wine before..But I tell you what I can.

As for sushi, the fish needs to be really really fresh. Otherwise, it tastes better after cooking. Rice needs to be prepared and shaped by hand in a right way which sounds easy but seems difficult because cheap sushi even in Japan doesn't taste good enough. It doesn't mean they are bad. They are just not good enough. Sushi is such a simple dish with sliced fish, a ball of rice (it even have a particular name and called syari) and wasabi. But the freshness and the way fish is sliced seem to be of utmost importance. For example, the fatty part of tuna (called toro in Japanese) has a wonderful butter-like texture. It literally melts in your mouth. Then you have that grains of rice. If the ball of rice is too tough, it ruins the overall texture of sushi. If it is too loose, then you cannot chew it. It should be just right to bring out the goodness of tuna. Wasabi is there bring out the goodness of tuna too. As for soy sauce, soy sauce is really like Balsamic vinegar in Japan. Cheap one to expensive one. For sushi, soy sauce is not used as it is although we call that soy sauce. What they use is a reduction of stock and soy sauce. So it is more like a proper sauce in the sense of French cooking.

If you are going to try one sushi to decide if you like it or not, try the best one available. Because if you eat an ill prepared one and decide that sushi is not your cup of tea, you are not fair to sushi and also to yourself.

As for lobsters, I have no idea. I could eat them when I was a kid, but now whether it is allergy or I simply have trauma or not, I haven't eaten it for over 15 years.... I like crabs, though. Oh, but I want to eat lobsters....with sauce Americaine... I always make sauce Americaine with crabs coz I can't eat shrimps or lobsters...
