why does cling film not cling like it used to.?!

If I remember right they changed the formula some years ago
They said it was cancer causing - can't remember what the chemical was but it did change the clinginess when they took it out

Its mostly because its made of stronger material. which is less clingy then the original. A good amount of static on the film will fix the problem, as long as you don't mind a few hairs standing on end. XD
I held some cling film over a TV screen once and my hair looked like an afro afterwards. XD
There's some cancer-causing chemical in old cling film, they must have changed it because of that!
I use Glad cling wrap and that stuff clings to everything. Might be the brand you are using. Try some others, the higher priced ones are more clingy.
There is a shortage of clingy plastic so they use 50% less clingy stuff
get your hands on a catering one it clings to anything . try yur cash n carry if in the uk otherwise i dunno
