How to nicely tell roommate to stop eating all my food?!

Question: How to nicely tell roommate to stop eating all my food?
I buy everything and she just assumes it's for both of us. I wouldn't mind if she just took a little but she chugs all the milk and barely leaves me with any and then just waits for me to buy more. I don't want to come off like the rude one for not sharing but it's getting ridiculous and expensive for me. How can I tell her to stop doing this and buy her own? Tell her face to face? Leave a note?

Answers:

Suggest splitting the fridge and cupboard in half. I know it may seem a little formal but it worked for me when I was sharing a place with three other people. That way they may realize that the food is not free for all and that you are supposed to supply your own.

You may have to tell her face to face. It wont be easy but that is the best and most realistic solution. She will understand. If she gets defensive then that is her problem and if she say's she cannot afford her own food, again that is her problem. You can't afford to feed two people either. Good luck!

Tell her to stop eating all the food ,face to face. And if she wants to get mad tell her that you don't think its fair that you are paying for the food and not eating any. Also don't forget you can ask her to go shopping with her (split the bill) . She is obviously using you and she knows it. She is going to keep using you because she can take advantage of you and you wouldn't do a thing. These are just a couple of reasons!

The times that I have shared a house with friends we have split the grocery bill down the middle. Tell your roommate that you can't afford to pay for all of the food by yourself and that it's only fair for her to share the cost of it. We would just save our receipts and split the total. It may even make your roommate feel better about herself knowing that she's done her fair share. Maybe you two can do the shopping together. She may have no concept about how much things cost.

Leave her a note, stop buying groceries for few days, leave her a text message, buy groceries only on daily basis.

Leave her a nice note and tell her to get the F out of your stuff or start paying 1/2 or more.

Use all her toiletries, and say 'it's all communal right?'
She'll soon be on the same page as you!

Tell her you need money to buy groceries.

Send her a bill for half.

Tell her she's putting on weight.
