A question about peanuts (monkeynuts)?!
I had some monkey nuts the other day from Waitrose & they were really nice, & after breaking into the wafer shells, the brown cover 'husk' that coats the nut slides away when gently manipulated with fingers.
Yet the last 3 bags I've had from Asda & Tesco taste kind of bitter & the brown husk appears to be stuck to the nut itself, it's really hard to separate it!
My family think I'm being fussy when I know there's clearly something wrong but the sell by date on the bags is still 3 months away!
I think they're old & dried out which has caused the oil to turn rancid & bond the skin of the nut but, can anyone else relate?

It might be to do with how well the bag is sealed maybe? I have also experienced this. Just buy them from waitrose in future!
They weren't roasted right. Put them on a sheet pan in the oven on 350 for 10 minutes. Let cool.
