Trying to get a job as a hostess, barista or cachier with zero experience?!
Answers:
Definitely bring a resume, even without related experience - it shows a degree of professionalism. Include a section about yourself, talking up your personality, ability to work with others, attention to detail, willingness to learn new things, etc. A few sentences should suffice. And dress up - not down. Consider slacks instead of jeans. Employers look at all of that. Make sure you have a pen with you, never ask to borrow one when applying. Make up a few questions to ask the interviewer - it doesn't much matter what, but it shows some initiative. Most of all, SMILE and be confident.
I've been in the restaurant business for 14 years, much of it in management, and all of these things can be just as important as experience. GOOD LUCK!
This is from years of personal experience.
1. It's cashier, sorry not trying to be rude but if you write that in your application they might not consider you just for that :)
2. You should make a resume even if you've only had one job, list other things like volunteer work, school activities, etc. and write why you want to work at these places, there's a lot of resume templates online. I know this because I suck at making resumes.
3. I don't know if jeans and semi formal shoes are the best to wear to an interview or to apply. I guess if it's a small coffee shop and their dresscode is casual then it's ok but if it's Starbucks then maybe consider dressing more like you're going on a date with Edward fefing Cullen :)
Good luck!
get a job as a hostess first, then ask the owner/manager if you can do a few hours as a intern and learn from the bar clerk there.....
