Does your high school offer a "foods" course?

Mine did, and it would be a great place to start. Your next best bet is continuing education after high school at a culinary school and getting your foot in the door by working in a small kitchen for experience.

I am 16 and very into culinary so I understand where you are coming from. Sadly in most states you can't really work in the food part of a restaurant until you are 18. You should really check and see if your school offers some type of culinary program. If they do try to get in it. Also many colleges who have a culinary program offer different types of summer camps. Those are really good ways to start off. Even tho you cant work with food in a restaurant of you get a job as a server or host you can eventually work your way up, and when you are able to work in the food part of it most of the time you can work at the same place. Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!

i am assuming you wanna be a chef.. if so i would say start in your own kitchen... try to start with easier stuff.. complete your education meanwhile.. if you can join some cooking classes that will be great.. try experimenting on your own.. once you graduate out of high school go to culinary college and alongwith that start working in a restaurant to get some experience and exposure.. so by the time you graduate culinary school you will have some great experience. great skills and also you would have paid for your college education through you job.. gud luck! and talk to someone you know in the food business .. they can give you a better picture

start with bake sales
also, make sure you get a good reputation as a chef
make treats for friends and parties
You could even advertise your baking around the neighborhood "Having a party? Hire ____ for catering"
there are also cooking classes, like college courses and at some libraries

Start in your home.
Restaurants can't hire you or haue you in the kitchen yet because of labor laws. Check your local paper to see if there are any stores (like crate and Barrel) that have a class.
Check with school to see if they offer or know of classe.in your area.

personal experience, am a certifiied chef

You are not allowed to work in a kitchen until you are 18 why?

Well because if you get burned or cut they do not want you to sue them.

If there is a culinary class in your school take that up.

You could only bag at a grocery store at your age

get a job, at a small restaurant so you can get experience on how the place is run, then open a pizza place in a busy mall.

Food hygiene and Home Economics are taught in High Schools often as part of one course.
If you plan to run a Business, School can help there too

Talk to your Teachers

town pizza or diner...
