Crumble on top in refrig tend to seal top, not letting moisture eacape, except to go into crust, making it soggy. As a custard would be fine. Can try to dry-crisp it low oven before serving, but no promises.
If you are worried, you could bake it for a short while just before serving to crisp up the topping. That would be really good with cold creamy custard.
