Ideas for a cake I'm making, please?!

Question: Ideas for a cake I'm making, please?
It is a cake to celebrate my sister's last chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer.

I want it to be awesome and reflect her free spirit. But what I DON'T want is a bunch of pink ribbons or a crude boob cake.

I'm at a loss for ideas, so anything will help!

I would do a really pretty simple cake with japanese cherry blossoms and a chinese/ japanese characture that symbolizes strenght or perseverance. To me that would be simple but beautiful and make her feel like you understand the struggles she just overcame. Make the inside really good with her favorite flavors and fillings. You could make the chinese/ japanese letters out of a mold using chocolate...dark or white. Place them in the top of the cake sitting upright. Then spell out what the meaning is is wrighting on the cake. Just an idea. Hope it helped. Good luck...and congrats to your sister for her acomplishment!

This makes me so happy! I know the perfect cake. It's called an mandarin orange cake.

* 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
* 4 eggs
* 1 cup vegetable oil
* 1 (11 ounce) can mandarin orange segments
* 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
* 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple with juice
* 1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil and mandarin oranges with juice. Beat until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan.
3. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
4. To make the topping: In a large bowl, beat together whipped topping, pineapple with juice and dry pudding mix until blended. Spread on cake.

And then I usually put some oranges on the top. It's seriously the best cake ever. My grandma makes it for my mother on her birthday every year. My mom is a cancer survivor. Tell your sister good luck, and congratulations, it sounds like she is going to beat it!

Just try to make a simple, sweet cake that everyone will enjoy.

I suggest layers of vanilla cake between a yummy lemon buttercream. Finish the whole cake with vanilla buttercream and a few lemon rinds on top.

Add some fresh vanilla beans or more extract. You might have to make a few and cut them into their layers.

You might want to lessen the amount of lemon rind.

Add a lot more vanilla beans and vanilla extract.

Something simple and delicious is a great way to celebrate your sister's courageous and amazing battle. God bless and all the best.

If you don't want to make it, try the Cupcake Cafe NYC...best cakeshop ever. They do BEAUTIFUL, peaceful cakes.

strawberry short cake or angel food cake with any kind of fruit you like to serve. I would just figure out what her FAVORITE cake flavor is and go from there.
