7 days. without water. but usually they die before that because of disease.

some informational book :p

Full starvation among soldiers at war probably took about 5 to 6 months. Of course they'd have a little to eat sometimes. I recall a story from the German troops at Stalingrad where a German sergeant was on watch - and he dropped dead in the snow. They hauled him in and cut him open - he has starved to death - and I recall the history book says that his heart "was as big as a baby's fist" - the body had eaten the protein in his heart until it couldn't supply blood anymore. That had taken a few months. (Enemy At the Gates)

Starvation like that isn't anything people come back from - they will die if you don't feed them - and they'll die if you feed them. Probably not a real good idea to go over a few weeks without food before the body begins to eat up its muscle.

Religious folks will often fast long periods of time - but I imagine they can sit still and not move around much while they're doing it.

A week or two but depends on the situation aswell. For example a person the is laying in bed may last longer then a person lost in the bush because they are not useing the energy the person in the bush is.

About 4-6 weeks, without having terribly bad consequences people have gone on hunger strikes for longer I think about 70 days but water is essential.

Why?

about 1 or 2 weeks, but without water, only 3 days!!
