Is it safe to eat ice salt off the ground?!

Question: Is it safe to eat ice salt off the ground?
Some kid at my school keeps picking up salt on the ground (put there for ice to keep people from slipping) and eating it. I told him not to but he says it tastes good.

I could not find anything on google.

no it is not safe to eat.

Deicer may not be salt (sodium chloride). Some deicers use Calcium Magnesium Acetate which is wholly different from salt.

Play it safe and don't eat mystery stuff, especially off the ground.

This weblink list common deicer compounds used.

If your problem is it's disgusting then tell him he's gonna die. But if you don't like him whisper to your friends that he will die when he can hear you. I DO NOT KNOW IF HE WILL DIE. Hope this helps.

I am sure it is not regular table salt. At least think about the dirty road where it's coming from... oil, dirt, sludge, ew... Not safe.

i think it might have some sort of bad chemical in it? idk but each straight salt isnt good eitherr.
