in N America Streaky bacon is just called bacon
what UK people call bacon is what Americans call Canadian Bacon.

there's also peameal Bacon which is (what Americans call Canadian bacon) wrapped in Cornmeal, it's pure tasty.

I prefer Streaky bacon it's the best. (which is just called bacon in N America)

I AM Canadian.

also reffered to as peamel bacon it is thicker and more pink in colour it is like most people said more of a ham but you can pan-fry it like bacon we usually fry it and melt cheese over it on a bun

I am a 29 year old born and raised in Canada

It is meat from a pig, very lean like 20 calories per slice. I think it comes from the loin of the pig, if it is authentic. It can be smoked or uncooked or precooked, but I buy mine already cooked and simply heat it up in a skillet.

its pork loin, cured by salting and usually smoking... much less fatty than traditional bacon, closer to ham. its also called back bacon.
