Question: Is it good to mix alum with well water or normal water and use it for drinking ?
please tell me clearly about the advantages and disadvantages behind the above process

Honestly, I don't understand why you would do that. Alum contains aluminum, which is not good for your body. I wouldn't want to add extra aluminum to my diet unless I were trying to get Alzheimers.

Alum would lower the pH of the water by bonding to some calcium, I think. And that would soften your water. But "hard" water (lots of calcium or iron) is only bad because it causes a film on plumbing and prevents soaps and detergents from working very well. Calcium and iron are just fine to drink. Maybe even good for you.
