But a true grilled cheese only contains cheese.
Maybe they wanted the toast to be grilled, not toasted?
haha that's something i'd do because i HATE cheese. if they only gave them one piece of toast then it isn't a grilled cheese without cheese. i'd expect a grilled butter sandwich.
