They're the same. Sea Salt has minerals in it that varies from whatever region it's from. That affects the taste. Regular table salt is a bit bitter due to the added iodine (compare it to Kosher salt and the Kosher salt will taste sweet). I keep several different types of sea salt around to vary the taste now and then.

Sodium content in sea salt is probably less than table salt, but it depends upon the level of refinement.

Why?

Table salt is pure Sodium Chloride while minimally processed Sea Salt will contain other chemicals/minerals.. The difference is probably a few percent, but would be less sodium.

The key is how "refined" or "processed" the sea salt is.

Sea salt and table salt are made up of the same two compounds - sodium and chloride. The only real difference between the two is texture, taste, and the amount of processing each undergoes.

Sea salt probably doesn't have iodine, which is an essential nutrient for your body. They both contain Sodium, though. But table salt is Sodium Chloride and most of the time has added iodine. I don't know about sea salt though.
