Is this safe to drink...?!

Question: Is this safe to drink...?
I bought a 500ml bottle of Fanta Fruit Twist, and drank about half of it until I realized it was out of date. The date said November 2010 (Today is the 21st of January), it's been refrigerated since hopefully long before that and hasn't been refrigerated since I bought it about two hours ago.

Answers:

I would say throw it to be safe. When me and my bros were kids we found a full can of unopened coke floating in the sea, being kid's we opened and started to drink it until my Dad caught us and pointed out that can was rusty, covered in sea weed and indeed years past its best before date and gave us a telling off.
Guess what?... we were all fine.

Don't get up tight about this. Everything deteriorates with time.

The "best before" date is an estimate based on common storage methods. All food products have a date, even if some are still hidden in a code that you cannot decipher on your own.

Deterioration is not sudden on the date of expiry but this is the point where the manufacturer feels that the prduct has lost enough taste or freshness that it shouldn't be used.

Fear not, a bottle of pop in the refrigerator may just taste very flat but it won't kill you.

Don't try leaving fresh meat around for much beyond the expiry date, though, that could make you very sick.

if the date information on this product is described as "use by" them that is exactly what it means, usually all refridgerated products carry this warning, however if there is a best before date, it means that it is safe to use after the date but there may be some deteriation of flavour texture smell. personally I would not consume this product I would take it back to the shop for a refund and some sort of small gesture of goodwill such as refund and replace.

I work in a grocery store. When it hits the date on those things, you're supposed to take them off the shelf and send them back to the company so the store can get a refund. The date really doesnt mean anything to consumers, unless it's a dairy or meat product. Also, there are so many preservatives and things in soda that keep it from going bad. I'm positive you'll be safe. :)

1. You need to go to the store you bought it from and ***** them out for selling you expired stuff.
2. Do not drink anymore, its expired you probably wont get sick from it, but it may not be good for you.
3. Eat some bread. It might help if your tummy starts to rumble.

Make sure you at least get your money back from the store =]

If you bought that I would totally return it an be arguing at the manager! I mean who sells soda that's expired? I honestly think nothing will happen to you. But if you do go and cause a scene I advice you to check correctly that it has been expired. If it has expired then go yell your pants off and demand a refund(they might even give you something else because of the inconvenience)

Lol um you probably shouldnt drink it.but dont take it back cause that is embarssing just wait and if nothing doesnt happen to you hell i'll drink some with you.

is november 2010 the expiration date or the best if used by date?

when in doubt, throw it out.

Of course it will be alright, they don't go off, it is just the recommended date.

Drink up bud! It wont harm you at all. Now if it was Nov 2006 then I would say BIN IT but its only a couple month o.o.d

I would discard it.
