wanting to eat flour - addiction?!

Question: Wanting to eat flour - addiction?
Recently I have urges to eat plain cooking flour for no reason. Paper as well. That would be fine except for the fact I will eat it without knowing because of habit. Also whenever I break the urge and recycle the paper instead of eating it my mouth feels ultimate displeasure. Its beginning to be a problem when I begin to want it all the time. Its irritating and I am also hoping flour and paper won't cause any internal injuries or illnesses.

Answers:

I've heard about the flower thing and that can cause constipation and large amounts of weight gain. no fun at all. The paper is mainly fiber but paper is treated with some pretty noxious chemicals so you don't want to put that in your body either.
My suggestion:
It sounds like you have some sort of vitamin deficiency talk to your doctor. Meanwhile start eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. And consider a multivitamin.
For the paper thing get some gum and if you find your self craving paper try chewing some gum instead. That will give your mouth something to do.
Also the most important thing on this list is Talk To Your Doctor. This could be serious and putting it off won't help.
-Good luck

I don't think you could eat enough to cause any type of internal injury, but one problem would be there is no nutritional value in what you are eating. Also, you seem to be very aware that this is not typical. It is a compulsion and I would talk with my doctor about it. If you are school age, go talk with your school counselor or school social worker. I have been both for many, many years, and I encourage my students to talk with me about anything. If you aren't school age and don't want to go to your doctor, is there a minister or someone else you could talk with? Good luck.

It depends on how long it's been going on. If only for a little while it might be that the way your body ticks might be a little off. Try doing something that eases the displeasure and it will probably fade.

thats kinda nasty
