Facts:
Green tea is widely known as a healthier alternative because of its extremely high levels of nd antioxidants.
But the only bad thing about Green tea is the caffeine count. It is alot healthier than coffee but it wakes you up better in the morning. While coffee only stays with you for so long, Green tea is very refreshing and keeps you alert. It is great to drink in mornings replacing your use of coffee.

I have to quibble with some of the other answers -- it's not that simple.

YES. Green tea has caffeine. Does it have more or less than black tea? IT DEPENDS.

You can't generalize about how much caffeine is in green tea vs. black tea, if all you know about the tea is that it's green or black. Why? The caffeine content of tea depends not on whether it's green tea or black tea, but on the proportion of leaf buds / tips, vs. larger, more mature leaves used.

You can read more about which teas contain more or less caffeine on this page I maintain:

Green tea and black tea both have widely variable caffeine content...typically varying as much as from 15mg to 75mg per 8oz cup.

Actually there are several variaties of green tea that have much more caffeine than black. General rul of thumb is that black tea does have more caffeine. Some varieties such as lung ching dragonwell and dragon phoenix pearls are stronger than a cup of coffee. I get my leaves from Wiseman Tea Co because they are very strong.

green tea has about 30-50mg of caffiend compared to 100mg for a cup of coffee. It's also a different kind, I get a different buzz off of tea than coffee.

Black tea has more than green tea.
