Plus it is produced and sold all over the world from North America, Europe and Asia, in Japan it is very popular and they have flavours like Green tea, Umeboshi plum, Calipico and even Custard, here in Canada we make ours here in Toronto ON where I live, we have the regular, dark, orange and a Kit Kat Chunky, it is like one giant finger of a normal bar, it is gotten more popular in the US since Nestle took over the Rowntree UK operations in the 1980's.
Through the series of extention stratagies made to make a large product variation, i think kit kat has had a 40 yeAr mature stage in the product life cycle. Also they are consistantly sold EVERYWHERE. with moderate pricing.
I think its loyalty that keeps it going.

Kit Kat is one of the oldest brand names and dates from the beginning of the last century and as such is "trusted" a similar title applies to Mars bars.
I had no idea it was that popular. My preference is dark chocolate. But I do enjoy a Kit Kat once in awhile. What I like most about it is the crunch. It's sort of like a candy and a crisp cookie Mmmm what's not to like!

weirdly enough, whoever said it was a girly name, did you know in the 18th century there was a raunchy club for english aristos called the Kit-Kat Club? Saucy devils they were too.
moms prefer them to other bars because you can easily divde them up amongst the kids thus limiting the amt. of chocolate the kids get and kitkat is also great for school lunches because its peanut free.

Really? Didn't knew that. However, I think it's because it's a bit cheaper than the other "good" type of chocolates.
I prefer Mars. It probably sells real well because of the name. Kit Kat sounds like a girly brand for... Girls...
