Why does sugar stick together if you don't use it for a while?!


Question: Why does sugar stick together if you don't use it for a while?
Like when you open up the jar you keep sugar in and its all packed in there.

Answers:

Moisture
If you put a couple saltine crackers in the cannister then they will absorb the moisture.



there is moisture in the air in your home it makes the sugar stick together.
for brown sugar I put the hard stuff in a closed container with a piece of bread for a night usually makes it soft



Moisture. You can put a little uncooked rice in it, just like you do for salt. It is supposed to absorb the moisture.



Moisture. or the humidity.



The the moisture in the air that is why it stick together.
