I had peanuts in a jar in my room for over a year and it turned to liquid?!

Question: I had peanuts in a jar in my room for over a year and it turned to liquid?
Ok so heres the deal. About a year and a half ago, I went to the store and bought peanuts. Planters bar peanuts to be exact. I would pick at them here and there but they sat at my bed stand. Yesterday, my mom went through a bunch of stuff to clean out my room, she picked up the can, and it was all liquid, and she dumped it into the toilet and said it smelt like pure amonia. What could this be?

I never heard of that one. This sounds incredible to me. Either someone tempered with it, or I would stop buying this brand, because peanuts do not turn into liquid like that, at worse it would turn into a paste, but even that, I can't conceive. Your mather did well throwing it away, What would you have done with it any ways. I was thinking maybe the company uses chemicals on those peanuts, like in the production process, but from solid to liquid as you describe. It should be impossible. people keep peanuts for years, I remember one they i found a peanut in the shirt I wore when I was 4 years old, and it was damn solid, after almost 10 years.
There must have been something fishy going on with those peanuts.

Hope I helped.

Good Luck
