Good "brown bag" meals? Meals to pack?!

Question: Good "brown bag" meals? Meals to pack?
What are some good meal ideas to pack for work every day? No PB&J, and I'm afraid of packing meats...but are lunch meats ok when not hardcore refrigerated?? (I don't have a good lunch box, but I have brown paper bags, ziploc, etc.) What are some other meal ideas that don't have to be in the refrigerator the entire 4-5 hours that I work? Also looking for cheap choices...

Abigail, did jannsody not read your restriction of no PB&J??? I guess not. Okay, well, let me see if I can pull through for you. When you come to think about it, and scroll through recipes, some things come to mind.

So, okay, how about in addition to some sort of sandwich, how about a healthy fruit or other type of salad, as found on the following linked recipe site?

Hope this helps your work lunch to be more appetizing!

If you store your meat sandwich in a zip-lock bag, I'm sure that it will survive.
Try ham, salami, cheese and vegetable mix in your sandwich.
Other things that will also survive in a zip-lock bag: grapes, strawberries, bananas, apples, cucumbers (make sure you pat them dry with a towel before putting it in a bag), cherries.

screw a lunchbox.

brown paper bags are more vintage and sweet.

NUTELLA - oh my goodness. Just make some toast, smear it with nutella - yummy yummy.
or, make yourself some toast, put some margarine and then honey!

then you have your traditional bananas, or apples, or whatnot.

but you could also take pop-top ravioli cans if your job has a microwave.

and 4-5 hours isn't all that bad you know, for lunch meats. children do it at school.

oack yourself little debbie goodies
some lunchables

taco bell is cheap :D

Lunch-meats are okay, like boiled ham or bologna. Stay away from mayonnaise if you are worried about lack of refrigeration. Pre-peeled 'baby carrrots', bananas, apples are a lunch box standard.

To end this fuss, invest in a thermo insulation lunch bag. they come with gel cores you can freeze and keep your food cool. there are everywhere. and cheap. :)

How about peanut butter and jelly since you have both a protein and carb, respectively ;)
