Wow what a load of garlic, to do several cloves at a time I crush them using the side of a large knife or rolling pin. To do a lot more I have crushed them in a mouli/ sieve and the skins stay on top while the garlic goes through the holes. To remove the garlic smell off your hands wash them with lemon juice. Personally I'd probably buy garlic already minced.
You can buy something to peel it with, it looks like a rubbery tube thingy you can usually get it at your grocery store. You can also buy garlic already peeled in the produce section as well. Good luck and maybe think about gloves because it makes your hands stink lol.
Separate all the cloves, shake 'em in a metal bowl to remove the excess skin ( put one metal bowl on top of another), then press down on each clove with the flat side of a knife until u feel them break a little and the skin will come right off!
Been working in a kitchen wayyyy to long ;)
wrap the cloves in foil with a little oil drizzled on the cloves and put in oven. After 30 mjns or so, the cloves ll have softened and u can practically squeeze then from the thin garlic skin
