If it is kept cold it should be OK, but if not, it could go bad and cause food poisoning...
Mayonnaise is still misunderstood by people. Mayo is highly pasteurized and does not go bad so easily. What DOES go bad are the proteins that mayo is often mixed with, like eggs, chicken and tuna. It is very rare to get food poisoning from mayonnaise. If your sandwich is in a lunch bag or box it should be perfectly fine when it comes time to eat it.
Yes it goes bad extremely fast, in fact it is the number one cause of food poisoning.
You might try the Mayo packs from restaurants or fast food, just put on right before eating the sandwich. Of course it probably won't taste the same as jar mayonnaise.
